The secret extends as she is visited by the soul of Sovereign Elena, an individual from the fairy race and first Sovereign of Adarlan, who demands that Celaena should bring home the Title and free the palace of the malevolent that occupies it.

Just as she associates Nehemia with the killings, her searchings carry her eye to eye against Cain and a horrible beast known as a ridderak, which she scarcely escapes with her life.


ENDING -  The spirit rapidly frees Celaena of the toxic substance and removes Cain strength, and Caelana arises successful as Ruler's champion with strong friendship formed in the way.
